Cricket World Cup 2023: `Stones Will Be Thrown At Him,` Angelo Mathews` Brother Issues Warning For Shakib Al Hasan Following Timed Out Controversy

Angelo Mathews' brother, Trevis Mathews, strongly condemns Shakib Al Hasan's behavior during the Cricket World Cup 2023 match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Shakib appealed for a timed-out dismissal against Mathews, who became the first cricketer in history to be timed out in international cricket. Trevis criticizes Shakib for lacking sportsmanship and warns that if Shakib visits Sri Lanka, he will face hostility, including the threat of stones being thrown at him.



Mathews expresses his disappointment, stating that Shakib's actions were disgraceful and lacked humanity in the gentleman's game. Bangladesh's fast-bowling coach, Allan Donald, also disapproves of Shakib's appeal, emphasizing the importance of respect, dignity, and the spirit of the game. Donald reveals his urge to intervene on the pitch to discourage such behavior.


Mathews' grievance stems from the fact that, despite being ready to bat within the allotted time, he was not prepared to take the pitch due to a snapped helmet strap while adjusting it. Donald suggests that a more sensible approach would have been to allow Mathews to fix his helmet quickly.


The controversy unfolded quickly, with Donald contemplating intervention and expressing surprise at the turn of events. Despite the uproar, Bangladesh emerged victorious with a three-wicket triumph against the 1996 world champion at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
